Focus and Scope

Journal of Integrated OMICS, JIOMICS, provides a forum for the publication of original research papers, preliminary communications, technical notes and critical reviews in all branches of pure and applied "-omics", such as genomics, proteomics, lipidomics, metabolomics or metallomics. The manuscripts must address methodological development. Contributions are evaluated based on established guidelines, including the fundamental nature of the study, scientific novelty, and substantial improvement or advantage over existing technology or method. Original research papers on fundamental studies, and novel sensor and instrumentation development, are especially encouraged. It is expected that improvements will also be demonstrated within the context of (or with regard to) a specific biological question; ability to promote the analysis of molecular mechanisms is of particular interest. Novel or improved applications in areas such as clinical, medicinal and biological chemistry, environmental analysis, pharmacology and materials science and engineering are welcome.

Peer Review Process

The practice of peer review is to ensure that the best possible science is published. It is an objective process at the heart of good scholarly publishing and is carried out by all reputable scientific journals. Our referees therefore play a vital role in maintaining the high standards expected of the Journal of Integrated OMICS and all manuscripts, including those of special issues, are peer reviewed following the procedure outlined below.  Special issues involve the assistance of guest editors. Authors as well as guest editors contributing to these projects will receive full details of the peer review process from the Editors in Chief. Journal of Integrated OMICS applies the same criteria for acceptance of manuscripts to all types of submissions, irrespective of whether these are submitted for regular issues or special issues.

Initial manuscript evaluation
One of the Editors first evaluates the manuscript. Some manuscripts may be rejected at this stage if they are deemed insufficiently original, have serious scientific flaws, or are outside the aims and scope of the journal. Those manuscripts that meet these minimum criteria are sent on to experts for review.

Type of Peer Review
This journal employs single blind review, where the referee remains anonymous throughout the process. The referee comments will be published along with the manuscript. In such cases where the referee agrees, their name will also be published.

How the reviewer is selected
Reviewers are matched to the paper by the Editor according to their expertise. Journal of Integrated OMICS's reviewer database is constantly being updated. The Editors welcomes suggestions for reviewers from the author though these recommendations may or may not be used, and these should not be collaborators or close colleagues,( i.e., not to be researchers of the same or related institutions).

Reviewer reports
reviewers are asked to evaluate whether the manuscript:
- Is original and novel
- Is conceptually and scientifically sound
- Is methodologically sound
- Contributes significantly to the advancement of the research area
- Follows appropriate ethical guidelines
- Has results which are clearly presented and support the conclusions
- Correctly references previous relevant work

Reviewers are not expected to correct or copy edit manuscripts. Language correction is not part of the peer review process.

How long does the review process take?
Typically the manuscript will be reviewed within 2 weeks. A minimum of two expert reports are usually required to evaluate one manuscript. Initial referees may also be asked for a prompt review of a  revised manuscript. The Editors may request more than one revision of a manuscript.

Final report
A final decision to accept or reject the manuscript containing any recommendations made by the reviewers, and or the Editor, will be sent to the author.

Editor's decision is final
Reviewers advise the Editor, who is responsible for the final decision to accept or reject the article.
